FAQ
United Kingdom questions
Do I pay tax on Polymarket in the UK?
HMRC has not said. A position could be a bet (outside tax), a cryptoasset disposal (Capital Gains Tax) or, rarely, trading income. OddsFile shows all three on your numbers; the CGT view is the conservative default.
Are Hyperliquid perps subject to CGT?
For most individuals, profits on crypto derivatives are treated as capital gains. Shorts are not pooled like shares, so OddsFile matches them first-in first-out and lists them separately for review.
Which exchange rate do you use?
The Bank of England daily spot rate (4pm London) for each date, and the previous business day on weekends and bank holidays. HMRC asks for a reasonable method applied consistently.
Is this tax advice?
No. OddsFile is software, not tax advice. Confirm your position with a UK tax adviser.
